[BC] Could our concept of audio be all wrong?

I have a good friend with VoIP that I can barely stand listening to! The 
audio is constantly ducking, and I keep missing words. It's really more like a 
VOX-based, pseudo-simplex conversation, than true duplex. The slightest sound on 
my end "ducks" his audio at least 10-12 dB!

Annoying isn't the word for it. :P
