I've never had a near death experience when it comes to radio, but one
experience that was quite "shocking" comes to mind...
My transmitter, an RCA BTA1-M kept blowing fuses about as soon as I could
put them in there causing my audio to sound like it had sunk 6 feet deep in
pig s&^t. I called my engineer (Bill Boyd) up and asked what to do, he told
me to get larger fuses... so I hung up, headed over to the store to do that.
I got back, called Bill up and was talking to him on the phone when all of a
sudden I let off just about every expletive I could think of.. and Bill
said, "What'd you do now, shock yourself?" to which I said "Yessssss.."
It wasn't that BIG of a song and it wouldn't cause any permanent issues, but
it was enough to surprise the heck outta me.
