LOL!! I feel sorry for the vendors/exhibitors and the people that are going
to all the work of putting on the classes, etc. this year. I have a feeling
this year will make last years dismal attendance look good. The big boys
didn't send very many if any last year and this year they are considerably
more BROKE. Pub radio stations and the state entities that effectively own
the majority of them have had their travel cut back to nearly notta. Unless
an engineer wants to pay his own way it's unlikely he/she can go this year.
This begs the question though.. Why? When most vendors know it is a lousy
year they won't likely invest as much time and trouble. At some point the
question will have to be raised if Lost Wages and their high prices are the
right fit for the show. I, for one, would rather it be in a less expensive
city. Nothing about that town is really budgetary nice these days. The days
of cheap eats and rooms to get us out there to "gamble" are over. If
attendance stays down for several years in a row and cost is a big factor
for vendors, I would look for the collective call to find someplace cheaper
to do it.
