OK, I called and they said that the #51 assembly is no longer available.  I
could take a chance and send it in and gamble $135 (bench fee) that they can
fix it.

Meanwhile, I am making up a rack panel to mount under the -E12 with nice
big, color-coded buttons for play/pause, stop and record.  The switches on
the Sony MDs are less than half the width of a pencil eraser, and the
buttons on the front have pokey things on the back that do the job
of actually pushing on the switches.  The trouble is, they are half as thick
as they ought to be and bend easily, especially when some of our announcers
get heavy-handed.  I have spent a lot of time working on these.
The separate switch panel will be infinitely more rugged, and I can replace
the switches easily if any break.
