No, there's some validity to what the broker was telling you - it's now 
possible to get an 18-month extension on an about-to-expire CP under 
very specific circumstances. The buyer has to be a qualified small 
business, and I think (but I am *not* a lawyer) that they can't own any 
other broadcast properties. (The buyer can, however, be married to 
someone who does...)

Look up WJGK 1200, Highland NY for an example of how it's done.
