Although its not free anymore...EV does refinish mics. I recently had a 
couple done and they came back looking like new. As someone else mentioned, 
I have also had a body shop professionally spray the frame and lid of a 
Gatesway II console....It looked really good in a retro studio. After all, 
its not good enough that it works well...in this superficial world it has to 
look good at the same time. I am OK with that.
