I have a friend who bought an AM station, and just brokered time. He
would basically take anything. Most of the airtime was ethnic and
foreign language programming. He was NEVER stuck with non-payment.
If the tape (when he started, most shows were provided on cassette,
now things are different) didn't have a check or cash with it, it
just didn't air.
He must have done something right because he now owns more than a few
stations.
Notice how cable TV bills, and so called Post Pay cell phone plans
are paid up front? They don't want people getting too far behind
either.
Get paid up front. If they cannot afford it, and are planning on the
donations coming in to pay the bills they are far too under-capitalized.
