Turns out the problem child is the Premiere XDS receiver, which is  
constantly updating.  Fed it directly from the cable modem and  
everything is happy again.
Only carry one Premiere program--have two music feeds from ABC, but  
their receiver has no where near the update activity.<<

Someone needs a QoS router...
