The mod monitors I have checked it with are a newer Inovonics and a
pira.cz"broadcast analyzer" unit (non-FCC type certified but seems to
be pretty
accurate compared to real mod monitors).  I have also noticed the pilot
dropping out on some radios when this unit was in use.

Thanks for the heads-up on the switches, etc.  I have had QEIs at my
previous employer that had a lot of dirty switch issues. The QEI was a good
monitor if a guy could keep all of the switches and alignment pots working
correctly.
