In the professional world the majority of video is still tape. Often the source material is film if the program is prime time. There are a number of digital tape formats in use. One of the newer formats HD cam for HD records.
On the other end of the scale, there is still a significant amount analog Beta in older plants. Dubs to VHS are still common . At work we have at least one machine for every broadcast format starting with 2 inch.
While more content is becoming server based, tape will remain a significant factor in video production for quite some time.

"tape"
is still often used as a synonymous with "to record" or "recording,"
especially in reference to video, as in "we got it on tape" or "during
the taping of the show." Of course there are some tape-based digital
video formats in wide use in both the consumer and professional arena,
so that usage is not entirely archaic.
