[BC] the old ETs

 From what I recall reading, the audio quality of an ET deteriorated as 
the stylus traveled from the outer edge of the disc toward the center.

So, what they would do in recording a 30-minute (or longer) broadcast 
would be to start the first disc at the outer edge. Then, after the 
first 15 minutes, the second disc would be started near the hub, 
overlapping disc 1. The engineer doing the playback would start the 
second ET where the overlap begins, and crossfade between the two. 
Presumably, it would not be possible for a listener to tell where the 
crossfade took place, as it might have been if the fade had been between 
inside/outside or outside/inside.
