The article worked here, too. Win98SE and FF 1.5
As for its contents, I don't see this being the end of thr RIAA at all. Of
course, their mitts are still going to be in the tills!
Since the idea is to use Micro SD cards that have a 1GB capacity, why do they
need to compress the songs at all? Average music CD's hold the equivalent of
about 700 to 800 megs, and are seldom "full". Bump that storage space up to
1GB, and there's *plenty* of room there for *uncompressed* audio plus lots of
extras including high res still images & video clips.
I recently bought a SanDisk MP3 player. It's a nice little unit... holds 8GB
internally, and I also added a 2GB Micro SD card because my library has grown
to over 8Gigs.
There is one significant problem I forsee with the Micro SD format - these
things are *TINY*! Unless "tethered" somehow, they will be *VERY* easy to lose!
Mine stays inside the player. I have no plans to ever remove it... not until
it gets full, and I need a larger capacity unit, anyway. :)
