Or instruct the bank to refuse to honor any "preauthorized" charges 
against that account, if it's really a debit card.  Might be a one-time 
fee (stop-payment), but once they get a "card declined", they should get 
the message.

Had that issue with A'OL back when - decided within the "free" trial 
period that I did not like their service, and informed them IN WRITING 
that I did not wish to subscribe, and cancel the pending charges.

Silly me neglected to tell the BANK, beforehand, that said charge might 
show up, and bounced a check or three before getting everything 
straightened out.
