As the older members of our group know, we all had to do the monthly
"carrier-up" "carrier down" carrier up" about 1 am or so in the morning.
We had services throughout the country that provided this requirement. We
would then adjust the local xtal oscillator on the Freq Monitor to match
their reading and then enter the information in the maintenance log.
Van Nostrand comes to mind, Claude Grey, and there are several others that I
worked with through the years that I do not remember. But we have members
on this forum from all parts of the country and if you do not mind, please
send me the name of the services and where located. If anyone has any old
postcards left, could you please scan and send them to me with 300dpi
resolution? Edison or Eidson? Radio Labs? There was a maritime station at
the foot of the Memphis Warf Wxx that we used too but I cannot remember
their call. So any experiences would add a lot to a quick little article
that needs to happen this week and I do not have the luxury of time to
research it and my memory is too wayward now. Cape Girardeau and Logansport
seem to be two places two, but the names escape me.
Thanks a bunch fellows
