Sony had an on-air credit during the games as supplier of the HD Broadcast  
equipment.  At the time I wondered if Sony provided the equipment in  exchange 
for advertising, or if they just leased it at a very favorable  rate.
 
In any event, the Sony credit was product placement - the same type used  for 
NFL football.  "Sony HD cameras are used to produce the event, so  for ideal 
viewing at home rush right out to your favorite big box store to buy  a 
SonyHDTV.
 
And let's not forget that facilities are shared or leased among the  
networks.  CBS Television City has been home to shows  seen on the 4 major networks, 
HBO, etc.  Nontraditional revenue, ya  know.
