[BC] Another computer problem

Yesterday a co-worker called with a problem with his computer.  It seems
that he had paid Norton to renew the license for his anti-virus but it still
wouldn't work and their Tech Support couldn't help.  He wanted to delete
it.  I did so, using the Control Panel-Remove Software function, rebooted,
and he was upset that his little icons at the bottom of the screen were no
longer there.  I clicked the desktop icon and it connected (he's still using
dial-up -- and Win 98) but there is no longer the Internet Explorer screen.
It just won't come up at all.  Could this have something to do with deleting
Norton?  I have heard that they have their problems.  Anyway, now he's
ticked with me.  Does anybody have any experience with this?  Solutions?
