I haven't seen this complete thread but I assume you are trying to 
resurrect and old radio.  Some stuff I'm sure I don't need to tell 
you:  Change out old coupling and non-ceramic type by-pass 
capacitors, not to mention power supply electrolytics.  Discolored 
resistors are a clue - they generally go down in value but the 
opposite is also possible.  Check DC continuity of band switches 
(been fooled by that a few times!)  Be sure and check individual 
filament voltages directly on the pins through the socket 
openings.  We've all been taught that "things" don't usually go out 
of alignment by themselves but maybe somewhere along the line it had 
help from a "peaker and tweeker" type.
