When the news was first reported it was in the afternoon and I was on my way to relieve Ike Lee, the Engineer on duty at WAPE.  The reporter was Jack Mock, who was known to "sample the grape," from time to time.  We would slip fictitious news Bulletins to Jack when he was at his best, and I felt sure that that had occurred this time.  We attempted to play a little somber music, but the tamest thing we had to select from was "Sam the Sham and the Pharos!"
