Dave, I believe that the call letters for Oklahoma City were KGPH 
(fire and police, I think).  My Dad was comm. supt. from 1937 to 1958 
and I still have the transmitter crystal.  1937 was before they had 2 
way radio, so it was "calling all cars".  The radio tech tweaked the 
local oscillator of the AM radios in police cars until the station 
could be heard at the top end of the dial.  However, when there was a 
ball game on WKY, the cops would tune to it and miss calls on the cop 
frequency.
