I think Ed was the true father of the sound of modern day AM audio.  And
yes, CKLW creamed WABC audio wise.  It was big without being smashed or
smeared.
It's a shame his mind wasn't tapped for the modern all-in-one boxes.  I
still marvel at what are recordings of The Big 8... I can only imagine what
it sounded like live.
