The one novel idea I remember that Ed had
was to use a cheap AM radio tuned to the low
end of the band to detect static from approaching
storms and trigger the power generator at the tx
site. No more lightning damage at the tx site!

I fashioned a tri-band AGC for 13-WAVZ using
LA-3A's and a modified Crown crossover. I later
used modified DBX-162's for the stereo FM
version I used with a modified Harris MSP-90
FM limiter. I was told CKLW used a similar
arrangement. The compliment I always got was
"WAVZ sounds like FM on AM". I always
thought CKLW sounded MUCH better than
WABC.

I fully agree....a great man has been lost.
