Another drawback with these is that they don't seem to stand up to any
abuse.  I realize sports announcers have an innate ability to trash
even the most rugged piece of equipment, the ones of these I bought
got broken after only a few uses.

Nothing makes you look more bush league than having headsets held
together with duct tape.
