Frank. You must have a whole slew
of these that you hear almost daily.

Care to share some of what you
tell your people to avoid?

Well, WPXI television moved to new studios a year ago. Most of the old
facility has since been demolished. What remains is the transmitter building
housing the analogue and digital transmitters, plus at least one 50kw FM
transmitter.

Some yahoo broke into the old facility this morning to steal copper.
Whoever wrote the story referred to it as an abandoned studio. I asked the writer
(who's been in the biz for some time) to change the copy -- to refer to it
as the transmitter building -- and pointed out it is no more abandoned than
the radio transmission sites he's familiar with operated via remote control.

If the yutz who broke in had tried to steal copper pipe from the transmitter
room he would have had a shocking surprise, and most certainly could have
been fatally dead. He should be thankful police were alerted by either a
burglar alarm or an alert neighbor.

If the brain cells kick-in Barry I'll send you more.

Yours in news,

Frank
