[BC] SRPT 30

You may be thinking of the SRPT-40A which is the newest one or the older
SRPT-40 or 40E. These are frequency agile. The SRPT-30 was the replacement
for the older crystal controlled units like the RPT-2, 15 and 30 which
could be switched between two frequencies. The newer SRPT-40A and the
SRPT-30 use the same basic synthesizer, but in the 40A the frequency is
controlled by a bank of thumbwheel switches on the front panel and on the
30 there is an F1/F2 switch,

I have several SRPT-30s and they are channelized...they don't require any
programming....I don't understand what you are meaning by "can't be
programmed from the field" ....

The SRPT-30's can't be reprogrammed in the field. Programming them at BE
requires a rather elaborate custom-built programming fixture. When I was
there, plans were in the works for some sort of field programming option at
one time, but I don't know if they are still pursuing this.
The good news is one it's back in Quincy, the programming is something that
can be done pretty fast.
