Many successful shows started as brokered shows. In several major
markets major Talk networks are paying for the time to clear their shows.

Sponsorship of specialty shows is easier if the focus of the show can
attract sponsors who sell specifically to that market. Home
Improvement shows, for example, are easy to sell because the audience
is there to buy tools and material. A general interest talk show is
very hard to sell because there's no targeted audience and requires
what we call tonnage. Large audiences.
