I am not personally familiar with the situation at WLS,
but remember how the GM at WCBS-FM in NYC was
fired for lackluster sales? He was forced to accept a
format change and had to live with it. I believe the key
words in the original post were "On orders from Citadel".

Clear Channel ordered the cut of a well respected midday
jock on a country formatted station here in CT. I knew him
back 20 years ago. The PD, who oddly enough, hired him
at 13-WAVZ years before, had to fire him through no doing
of his own. It was a Corporate decision to voice track that
time slot nationwide.

The real reason for poor performance should be discovered.
