Since the bureaucrats define what interference is, they can then
define away any potential interference problem.

There must be a ton of money being shoveled into Washington to promote
BPL. Someone has successfully purchased several FCC Commissioners in
order to promote this still-born version of carrier current radio. All
the ARRL won here, as Mike observed, was a temporary roadblock in
front of the bandwagon.

Luckily for the ARRL, the marketplace seems to have figured out that
BPL will be very expensive to maintain, and just doesn't work well.
There just doesn't seem to be the interest in this wonderful
technology there once was.

The next battle will be over TV "white space," since the business
press seems convinced that with the conversion to DTV there is some
magical pool of open frequencies available for all these wonderful
wireless devices silicon valley keeps whipping up.

There is only two answers of course:

1. More real engineers in the FCC, maybe even one on the Commission
(never happen);
2. Sabotage. In the case of BPL, a large pool of amateurs with mobile
rigs could have all kinds of fun
