right, and yet they still ended up using the general public as
post-release beta testers.<<
Sometimes I think I'd like to buy enough Microsoft stock to where I could go to the stockholders' meetings. There I could occasionally stand up and shout at the top of my lungs: "Why do you people insist on fixing things that aren't broken?"
I recently assessed the type of support requests I get lately, versus how it was when I started my present job eight and a half years ago. When I finally got everyone on XP, virtually all workstation-related support requests disappeared. Some of my users refuse to reboot, but frequent reboots is something every flavor of Windows has benefitted from, going back to Windows 1.0. Windows' well-known quirks aside, XP just plain works. I realize that my thoughts are heretical to the Redmond Money Machine, but that's one person's experiences down in the trenches. YMMV.
