[BC] Another automation Trivia (?) question

Yes Richard, Larry is no longer with us... but I don't think that was the
question IO asked ;-)
Favorite Larry Nelson story is where he and the traffic reporter pulled off
a good one. KOMO had the only airplane back circa 1972 and all the other
stations gleaned traffic reports from the two-way... until one day Larry put
the traffic reporter up to reporting a "fake" accident on the two-way
only... KIRO, KOL, KAYO, etc all had egg (well fish oil) on their faces.
I was involved with a similar prank at WEMJ in Laconia, NH in 1963. We had
the two-way and old-line legendary WLNH had moved way out of downtown to
their FM transmitter site. They used to steal stories from us all the time,
so one day the news director Jay Terrence Coyne and I faked a major fire at
one of WLNH's biggest advertisers the Boulia-Gorrell Lumber Company. WLNH
hit the air bulletin-bulletin-bulletin with multiple alarm mutual aid fire
story. Jay and I laughed our butts off, and Al Auclair the owner of WEMJ
bought us a steak dinner he was so tickled by what we had done. Today there
would be lawyers involved.
I'm sure there are many others that pulled stunts like this, as late as the
mid-80's WMJC in Detroit had a part-timer that would come in every morning
just to copy the traffic reports from the other stations.
