You may want to reposition the ground wire from the AC jack to the chassis.
On it the wire has been positioned directly under a couple of capacitors on
the VSWR board.  When this was hit, the arc took out the caps.  Here are a
couple of photos of the results.

A second Jazz 1000 was delivered recently and the wire was run the same way.
All I did was unsolder the lug, run the wire along the back of the chassis
and shorten it by maybe 5 inches.  The resoldered and reconnected the
ground.

No transmitter is lightning-proof, but this should improve it for little
work and no cost.  It is a pretty decent box, and an easy installation.
Other than the lighting-caused failure, it's been fine.  I did add a better
air filter to the front as well.
