Actually, we don't.  At least, any that can be felt.  I don't recall the
last time that I have actually felt an earthquake.  It was at least 10 years
ago.  The Big Bear and Landers shakers in 1992 (I think it was) and the Loma
Prieta quake in 1979 were the only ones that bothered me.  It is a bit of a
myth that California has quakes "all the time."
