This is not true. A couple of years ago a hurricane ( I forger the
name) landed on the west coast of Florida and actually increased in
intensity as it crossed the peninsula. By the time it hit Palm Beach
it was a major hurricane and many many people were caught there. I
have a friend who was a captain on a yacht and he was on board in the
inter-coastal fighting to keep the boat off the wall. As he was
fighting the weather a Boston Wailer dragging about ten feet of dock
beside it nearly collided with his vessel. A couple years earlier my
sister in Fort Lauderdale was hit unexpectedly when a hurricane was
supposed to clip Key West and head into the Gulf but rather turned
strait up US1 and nailed the east coast. She, and her
coworkers, first found out about the storm when they evacuated the
building. Having grown up in south Florida I can tell you that a
Hurricane is anything but predictable.
