Well, it could be in several places. What version of Outlook? Versions 
prior to 2003 had an artificial limit on size of th PST and that can 
cause issues.

If you do start/ search, look for *.pst and *.pab files   the pab should 
have your contacts.

It is usually:
C:\Documents and Settings\mearle\Local Settings\Application 
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

substitute your username for mearle in the above example

Note that it may be elsewhere - depending on how the program was installed.

I usually use a pst in "my documents", instead of this default location, 
so that the pst and pab will be backed up with my other documents on a 
routine basis.
