I'm finding receiving digital OTA can be a major pain. Apparently the
vegetation around here resonates at UHF frequencies because I have always
had a problem receiving OTA UHF stations on windy days. Wind doesn't bother
VHF at all but the moving limbs and leaves of the trees shifts the phase of
UHF signals. This causes distortion of analog reception which is annoying
but doesn't make it unwatchable. But with digital the same amount of wind
causes the picture and sound to completely disappear for several seconds at
a time until the decoder can relock on the stream. This is much more than an
annoyance- it's actually lost of service and will probably make OTA UHF
completely useless in severe weather when you need information the most.
