[BC] Comrex ACCESS question

To my knowledge I installed the first pair of Comrex ACCESS codecs to be
used as a full-time STL in a situation where none of the typical STL
solutions would work. I upset my friends at Comrex when I told them
that's what I was going to do. Tom from Comrex will tell you, it caused
them more than a little concern. There were issues at first, I spent
many hours tweaking settings and sending information to Tom and
discussing what, why and how about all things ACCESS. It wasn't too
long before we got everything ironed out. Turns out our biggest hiccups
were caused by flaky equipment at my ISP's NOC.

One Sunday we lost connection. I called my ISP and asked what was going
on and learned that their router had gone south. It wasn't too long
before they got their back-up router going and I was able to restore the
connection. A few hours later, it lost connection again. The other
router followed the first one south of the border. I made quick work
out of plugging a phone cord in and using the POTS dial-up to get us
back on the air. We stayed on dial-up for three days and didn't miss a
lick.

I'm not sure but I think that was the first "real world" test of the
dial-up feature of the ACCESS as a back-up STL. I know I made Tom and
everyone else at Comrex more than a little nervous when I began using an
ACCESS system as an STL but I did it based on my past experience with
Comrex.  The gear works, if it doesn't they take care of it right away;
and, their commitment to customer service is a class act. (I don't say
that about too many companies but Comrex is one of the few I respect in
that way. I guess I ought to be on their payroll but I'm not. I can't
even say that all the nice things I say about them buy me any special
favors. They just treat me great because I'm their customer. Without
me, or any of you who are reading this, there would be no Comrex. So
next time you need a solution to a telephone interface or audio delivery
problem, check with Comrex. You'll see what I mean.
