In years past, the NAB's John Marino has been so kind
as to mention the interest of radio hobbyists wanting
old retired AM broadcast transmitters to repair,
restore, and reconfigure for use on the amateur bands.

I posted this video example on here a little while
ago, worth repeating by illustration.

Marino, KR10, is the NAB's Vice President of Science &
Technology, and passed the word along as part of the
group's annual convention that includes a gathering
for Amateur Radio Operators.

I am pleased to get word from KTTV's Bill Pasternak,
WA6ITF, that the gathering is once again on the books.

Subject: The NAB Ham Radio Reception Is On -- April 16
To:

 Hi all,

As I had not heard anything regarding a ham radio
reception at NAB this year, I e-mailed Bob Heil asking
if Heil Sound would have one this year. The answer is
yes -- see below.

 ---

 Hi Bill

The Ham Radio Reception certainly IS on again this
year. Wednesday night, Apr 16th, 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
in the Hilton Ballroom just as prior years. LOTS and
LOTS of prizes - of course and who knows who will show
up!

 ---

Note: as Bob says its in the same Ballroom as in
prior years, that would be Ballroom B which is on the
ground floor of the Las Vegas Hilton which adjoins the
Convention Center and is connected by an overhead
enclosed bridge (albeit its usually faster to walk
between the two outside).

Anyhow, please get the word out to one and all that
this annual "happening" is indeed happening.
