Cousin Brucie was a success as an air personality, and not (by his own admission) as a businessman.  He got out because he hated it.  In fact, he stated quite plainly in his memoirs that he and Dan Ingram, who was on the air right before him at WABC, used to make fun of what he had become as an owner.
