I'm told the main lobe was so narrow as you drove down I-5 through Costa 
Mesa, well to the west of the transmitter site, you were in and out of 
coverage in about 15 miles.  This is one I find hard to believe the FCC 
would grant, but they did.  I wonder who was the engineer of record on the 
application?

XETIN, the 540 in Tijuana Mexico is only 100 watts, on less than 1/4 wave 
tower, but it has coverage well to the north of San Diego.  I think it has 
been there for years, I believe the Costa Mesa 540 received interference 
from it.

It looks like Saul's goal was to make money, and it looks like he did.  I've 
been to the abandoned site, copper sticking out of the ground everywhere a 
few years ago, I'll bet that's no longer the case ;-)
