I doubt this is anything more than an individual station's policy. If
it were true I would never have gotten the job at WOR, New York. The
Tom Bodett show had ended and I took a couple of months off. On a
lark I sent a single resume to WOR. It wasn't for a specific job.
They were thinking of starting a network and the timing was perfect.
I had no idea what their plans were. I had worked for the ABC Radio
Networks and we thought it was a good match.
I seem to recall the interview form that I had to use as an employer
had a space for referral information but it wasn't necessary that it
be filled in.
How many people mass mail (or email) resumes during a job search? How
could an applicant know all the job titles that might be open?
