Yes. Not too long ago there was a resurgence of music of that era and
some contemporary stuff done in that style. Those night clubs attract
young people. They called it Swing and it lasted a couple of years.
Jazz composers have always taken standards and rearranged them.
I remember seeing lines of young people outside the Roseland Ballroom
in New York dressed in 30s and 40 outfits. I tried to get WPIX-FM to
sponsor some events but management wasn't interested. Actually, they
weren't interested in much of anything, including the Smooth Jazz
that gave them new life for many more years as WQCD. Their success
required a change in management and consultant.
