[BC] Question/Statement About The Cost of Streaming

They probably run a portal that allows a couple hundred simultaneous
wide-band connections. 64kbps mp3 streams or higher, instead of 24 kbps
AAC, and limiting it to something manageable, like 10-20 simultaneous
listeners. I'm in the process of setting up RadioXTZ's stream, so I've
been pricing this stuff. Also contributing factor is the FOUR licenses
- ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and SoundExchange. SESAC is notoriously high; they
charge as much for a stream license as for a small-market broadcast
license - and do NOT offer Internet stream licensing as part of their
Broadcast license, which both BMI and ASCAP do. And the SoundExchange
fees are based on either revenue or cost, so.... I plan to address
those costs, at least, by buying into one of the JPL (Joint Provider
License) stream providers - specifically, SWCast and Spacialnet, for
about $25.00/mo or a bit less.
