Your last sentence is dependent, of course, on the
brand of RG-8 used. Ordinary cable has more
significant I^2R losses due to oxygenated copper
used in the center conductor and shield. Monster
RG-8, on the other hand, employs the same low
loss technologies that have made AC power and
speaker system power transfer much more efficient.
Higher cost, yes....but you get what you pay for.
