[BC] trouble with an old BC-1G need advice

UNless you've managed to re-write the laws of physics, your output
power is not what you say. That box won't do it. You can get 1100
watts out of it on a GOOD day, and I never had a good day with a BC-1G!
The meter readings are all in the right department. If you're feeding
a 50-ohm load, 4.4 amps line current is normal for 1000 watts. I
think somewhere you're making some mistakes in your power
caluclations. What are you reading/measuring to make you think you're
putting out 2400+ watts in high power mode?
