[BC] Broadcast TV dying?

I wonder how the economics of television program delivery over something
like http://www.hulu.com is versus over the air television. Of course,
they are only delivering something like 700kbps. What's ATSC? Something
like 20Mbps? It doesn't appear that hulu is using anything like bit
torrent, though they may be using various geographically located servers
to cut down on bit*kilometer costs. Still, is broadcast (one to many,
whether over the air or over a wire) still more economical than multiple
point to point streams? Or, is the cost so little that people are willing
to pay for the convenience of on demand video.
