Mark,

Great stuff about KDKA. This is the original tower installation in Saxonburg
that was torn down and moved to Allison Park one year later.  I'm guessing
that the 90 foot poles didn't make the trip to the new site, as the reason
for moving was to get around the self-fading that the antenna exhibited.
(Well actually, they moved the fade area away from downtown Pittsburgh by
moving from 25 miles outside the city to 11 miles.)  I assume their
"vertical null" attempt didn't work so well.

Also, while I had heard about the shortwave operation, I have never
previously seen any documentation about it.
