Recently I needed a nine-foot RF cable for a TV. Radio Shack will gladly
sell you their gold-plated version for $12.00. Wal-Mart had the same
basic thing for about half that much. But I found it on the rack at a
dollar store for 99 cents.

They also have the typical PC-to-amp hookup cable (3.5mm stereo plug to
two RCA plugs), which sells for $3.29 at Wal-Mart -- but the colors are
backwards! The 99-cent version has red for left and black for right.
But unless it's a manufacturing mistake, you can't blame the Chinese for
that. The box says "Designed and Engineered in the USA", by a company in
Queens, NY.

I have even seen soldering irons at the dollar store... and I admit to
trying one, just for giggles. The AC cord and plug are incredibly flimsy,
and if you leave it plugged in for more than about 15 minutes, the plastic
handle will actually start to melt from the heat!
