Rich,

I did exactly that with the new Dell I bought for the studio late last year.
I had a set of those discs from another computer - popped them in,
installed, and it works just fine, not a single hitch with the WGA crap
either.  Still, a bit of a pain to do when you could just get XP
preinstalled.
