 Yeah, the market ( including legit download ) appears to agree that
 about $1/song is about right.
 The challenge, as you allude, is that for the ONE you want,
 probably badly mixed, one must pay for 17 you don't want.
 If we do as consumers do, and consider only the tracks that have
 value as being paid for, and the rest as useless throw-a-way
 excelsior, then we have an average of $18 per song, ( $9 if there
 happens to be a second desired song on the CD )
 much, much more than the market will bare.

 How many are willing, even in the wasteful USA, to pay 18x the
 value for anything ?
 2x probably. 5x questionable, but 9-18x ??
