To be fair, while Rick was certainly successful programming WABC in 
the 70s, I think it's safe to say he was pretty conservative.  How 
many records broke first on WABC, or for that matter was WABC even 
early on?  Very few.  If you've read his book, you'll know he relied 
on a very tight, heavily researched gold/recurrent-heavy 
playlist.  The hits and nothing but the hits.
