[BC] DTV and CATV

Some NTSC stations (particularly those on or adjacent to channel 55) have
already signed off, and their digital signals are already being converted to
NTSC on cable and satellite.

I believe that it is up to the CATV system to do what they want. All the rules
say is that the DTV signal must be made "receivable" on an NTSC set.

I haven't been keeping up with this lately, so...

When the DTV drop-dead date hits, do the CATV systems have to carry the
DTV signal in wide screen and convert at the set top, or can they trunk
a ready-to-watch 4:3 NTSC signal to the home?

Can the TV broadcasters (who direct feed) continue providing CATV
systems with analog 4:3 NTSC after the DTV cut-off day, or must the TV
stations provide only a digital signal?
